IAMBROON Back to the music

Bio

Every song starts with a moment.

Some happened yesterday. Others have stayed with me for decades.

Where it began

I started writing down how I felt many years ago, following difficult moments. There was no plan. They were simply words and thoughts I needed to get out of my head.

I never expected them to become lyrics. I certainly never expected them to become songs.

But years later, they did.

That is where IAMBROON comes from.

The songs are personal because the moments behind them are real. They come from relationships, grief, family, friendship, memories and those times in life when something changes, sometimes without you recognising its significance until much later.

FOG began during a difficult period in my life. Writing became a form of personal therapy, somewhere to put feelings I was struggling with. The original words came from quite a dark place, but as they developed into lyrics, something changed. The song became less about being lost and more about finding a way through.

Loss and family

My Mum was my anchor.

She died following a difficult period with cancer, and grief affected me in ways I had never experienced before. It still does. Sometimes it arrives when you least expect it. Sometimes a memory, a smell or something completely ordinary brings someone back into the room for a moment.

ANCHOR came from that experience. It is about the people who keep us steady when life shifts around us. The people whose presence stays with us even when they are no longer there.

After Mum died, I remember sitting on a beach thinking about life before losing her and what life looked like afterwards. Memories kept coming and going. That moment eventually became TIDE, a song about accepting change and recognising that while people leave our lives, what they gave us does not necessarily leave with them.

Friendship and connection

CIRCLE came from a different kind of loss.

Over the years, I have invested a lot in friendships, believing I mattered to people as much as they mattered to me. I learned that this is not always the case. People change. You change. Sometimes you find yourself returning to the same people, places and questions before eventually recognising that something is different.

My Dad gave me another perspective on what we leave behind.

When he died, I did not really allow myself to grieve. I felt I needed to stay strong for my Mum and my family. Years later, as a father myself, I started noticing parts of him in me. The way I speak. The way I react. Small characteristics I had never noticed before. Then I began recognising parts of myself in my own children.

That became HIM.

It is about the pieces of us that quietly pass from one generation to another, and the thought that something of us continues through the people who follow.

Love and distance

Not every defining moment comes from loss.

My wife and I met while separately on holiday. We had been passing each other every day without actually seeing each other. Then one moment, neither of us planned or expected, changed the direction of both our lives.

MOMENT came from thinking about how much of life turns on moments like that. Something happens, perhaps something seemingly insignificant, and years later you realise how much followed from it.

Family inspired HERE too.

The people I love are scattered far and wide. You want to be there for everyone, but you cannot be everywhere at once. Life, work, distance and everything else get in the way. Sometimes people feel you are absent when, from your perspective, they never left your thoughts.

HERE is my way of saying: even when I am not physically there, I am still here.

Making the music

Then there is WAY, perhaps the song that explains why IAMBROON exists at all.

I cannot sing. I cannot play an instrument.

But somewhere along the way, I discovered I could write lyrics.

For years I had words without a way of hearing them as music. AI changed that. It gave me a way to take something deeply personal and hear what it might become as a song.

The words are mine.

The experiences are mine.

The moments are mine.

AI gave me the medium to give them a voice.

What started as an experiment became something much more personal. I found myself creating music people wanted to listen to, but more importantly, I found a way to express things I had carried quietly for years.

That is what WAY means to me.

Stillness

And then there is STILL.

After loss, change, relationships, memories and all the noise life creates, there are moments when everything becomes quiet.

STILL lives there.

It is about reaching the point where you hear yourself clearly again and realise that peace was never empty. It was waiting for you.

What comes next

That is IAMBROON.

A collection of moments from my life, turned into words and then into music.

There will be more moments.

So there will be more songs.

I hope somewhere among them, you find one that feels like part of your story too.
